In this exclusive interview, Nadica Gaber, Technical Lead at ITSM Vendor Management, in Qinshift, will be sharing her invaluable expertise and insights on cloud migration strategies. As an Atlassian expert she is sharing her  real-world experiences related to Atlassian cloud migration.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join us on October 19th for our Atlassian webinar, where Nadica Gaber will share her expertise live.

1.Can you describe the current trends in cloud migration, and how have these trends evolved over the past year?

-   As the date when Atlassian is discontinuing the Server Licenses approaches, the number of customers asking for our migration services has drastically increased in the past year. Our expectation is that the number of customers migrating their Atlassian Tools from server to cloud will grow exponentially.

2.Can you specify the best practices and workflows for ensuring optimal Cloud Migration?

-   Proper planning, including all relevant stakeholders in the early stages of discussions to define the scope of the migration and executing at least one test migration, is the recipe for successful migration of Atlassian Tools data from on-premises to the cloud.

3.What challenges and obstacles have you encountered when migrating Atlassian Tools to the cloud, and how have you addressed them?

-   Data residency of the add-on data is a challenging topic when planning migrations. We have addressed it by contacting vendors and obtaining all relevant information for the customer in question. Additionally, user management should always be carefully considered in combination with future company plans. Together with the customer, we decide on the best approach to migrate the users.

4.Could you share some key performance indicators (KPIs) or metrics that your team uses to measure the success of cloud migration projects involving Atlassian tools? How do you ensure that migrations are meeting the expected outcomes?

-   Certainly. First of all, there is a comparison of the number of items agreed to be migrated and the actual migrated items. These numbers need to match. Then, through User Acceptance Testing, we ensure that the required functionalities of the tools are achieved.

5.In the context of cloud migration and Atlassian tool usage, what security and compliance considerations are taken into account to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance? Are there specific tools or practices you employ for this purpose?

-   We always utilize the customer's infrastructure as a source for migration to ensure that all the data stays in the customer’s environment. In terms of security on Atlassian Cloud, there are well-established policies defined and applied by Atlassian, but we are always here to help customers understand them.
