The client is a market leader in the water-tech sector, specialised in rainwater and wastewater management.

Challenge

The organisation operates across 12 countries, with each office managing data in its own way. They faced challenges such as data fragmentation, diverse data sources, and scalability issues, all of which negatively impacted daily operations. These problems led to inefficient, time-consuming processes and wasted valuable resources. They needed a data warehouse solution that could consolidate all data—despite varying layouts and formats— into a single platform and provide a standardised visual output for the head office.

Solution

Our Approach:

To achieve the goal of a centralised data source, we began by identifying the most suitable tools and technologies for the task. We assembled a team of five experts to lead and implement the solution.

The core of our solution was the creation of a Cloud Data Warehouse. This centralised storage was designed to consolidate the company's critical data, previously stored across various internal systems in different formats. By centralising this data, we enabled the generation of efficient, visualised reports.

Implementation Process:

The implementation began with a series of meetings with representatives from each of the 12 countries involved. These meetings were essential for understanding how each office collected, stored, and visualised its information. Gathering this information took several months, but it was crucial for ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of the final solution.

Once the data was collected, our team developed the Data Configurator Tool—a complex system capable of ingesting data in any format and generating detailed reports using Microsoft Power BI.

To execute this project, we provided a team comprising three Senior Data Engineers, one Power BI Expert, and one Project Manager, all bringing the necessary skills and expertise to ensure a successful implementation.

With the solution in place, all 12 countries can now generate various reports—sales, inventory, financial, and more—from a single, centralised source, regardless of the data’s country of origin. Efficiency has been significantly improved. By standardising data formats and centralising the database, the solution reduced discrepancies and errors in reporting. Tasks that previously took hours to complete are now executed almost instantly, enabling easy analysis and resulting in faster decision-making. The use of Microsoft Power BI provides visualised reports, making it easier for stakeholders to understand and act on the data. Additionally, by streamlining data collection and reporting processes, the solution reduced the need for manual data handling, freeing up valuable resources for other tasks.
